Maldives
The bottom has coral boulders interspersed with patches of fine white sand. There are boulder and branching corals, turtles, stingrays and a large variety of fish, such as triggerfish and snappers. In Dhivehi, "thila" means an underwater pillar, the kind of formation the site is named for. In Thaa and Laamu, the dry season runs from December to April and tends to have the clearest visibility and the best diving conditions, and those months are also given as the best time to visit Laamu.
