Maldives
Miskih Faru is also known as Mosque Reef, or the reef of the mosque. Feather tail stingrays, whiptail stingrays, giant clams and oysters have been seen at the site.
In the Maldives, the dry season, from November to April, is usually named as the best time to dive, with boat diving more comfortable.
Laamu Atoll is home to three NGOs working on marine conservation and research projects: Manta Trust, Blue Marine Foundation and Olive Ridley Project. The atoll was declared a Hope Spot by the NGO Mission Blue two months before the atoll's marine protected areas were announced. In Laamu, a coral reef forms most of the atoll's circumference, and where the reef breaks, channels open up.
