Between 2004 and 2010, a busy time for Taba Heights, 20 or more Discover Scuba divers went to Marina Bay every day. In May 2014, a flood devastated the hotels of Taba Heights and carried silt and debris into the sea, affecting the dive sites in the area, and most of them went unvisited until 2024. When the Taba Heights sites were visited again in 2024, in most cases the coral and marine life had not been affected by the flood, although Marina Bay was not among the sites revisited. In May 2024, early in the season, the water at Taba Heights was still a little chilly, and a 5 mm shortie was enough to dive.
