In the Kuda Kandu channel, small and full of life, there are schools of jackfish, snappers and barracudas. The Kuda Kandu area, in Addu (462.06 ha), was declared a marine protected area for sustainable use (category 7) on 22 September 2020.
In Addu it is usually possible to dive all year, and the water tends to be warmer from January to March. In the region, manta rays are usually seen throughout the year. In the southern atolls, between Huvadhu and Addu, December to March is usually the best time to dive and to see the shark action.
