Maldives
There are healthy, gorgeous coral gardens, with massive coral formations of all kinds. Reef sharks, rays, turtles, barracuda, tuna and triggerfish appear here, and it is worth watching the blue for passing rays and sharks. The neighboring area, Kandihera-Maakandu Channel (Addu Manta Point), was declared a marine protected area on 13 September 2018 (directive 2018/R-105). In Dhivehi, 'beyru' means outside and 'kandu' means channel; hence the other name, Maa Kandu Beyru. In Addu, January to April usually brings the best weather and good visibility, but with more divers; July to September also tends to have good weather and visibility, with fewer people.
