Turneffe Islands, Turneffe Atoll, Belize
Lefty's Ledge sits on Turneffe Atoll's straight eastern reef line, just south of Black Beauty, where the wall carves a small scalloped notch. The dive begins near 15m as the reef ramps down through massive coral bastions forming stepped ledges before dropping vertically around 30m into open blue. Visibility runs a reliable 24m. Expect horse-eye jacks, snappers and Spanish mackerel working mid-water, hammerhead, blacktip and bull sharks cruising past, and spotted eagle rays gliding through the blue. Reef crevices hold lobster, arrow crabs and moray eels. Current swings from none to strong, so this intermediate boat dive rewards divers comfortable adjusting to Turneffe's changeable water.
