Maldives
The top of the reef is covered in live coral and teeming with fish, and the site is good for macro, with leaf scorpionfish and ribbon eels among the corals. Green sea turtles are often seen resting in various spots around the reef. During the south-west monsoon, the top of the reef tends to work as a manta cleaning station, and that is the time worth planning a visit to see them. Divers are asked to keep a distance and avoid positioning themselves directly above the mantas being cleaned. In the region, "gaa" means "rock" in Dhivehi and refers to a small dive site, usually dived in a spiral from the deep end up to the top.
