Maldives
Koimas I is a former fishing boat, with refrigeration piping to freeze fish in the holds. It was bought from the resort for US$ 20,000 and sunk as the second wreck of the house reef. The plan was to fill the boat with sand and then with water, but even with 1,400 bags (42 t) it did not sink, and the load had to be doubled to 84 t of sand. It sank at 7:15 pm on 23/12/2010, in the dark, through the engine room and then the bow, in less than a minute, with no photos.
The hull landed upright, in the right position, but the 8 mooring lines were not loosened in time: they ripped the bow and toppled the foredeck mast. It lies 50 m from Koimas.2, and the two hulls face each other bow to bow.
Shortly after it sank, a sizeable moray and a massive parrot fish were already frequenting the hull.
