Huge blocks fallen from the reef top shelter many fish and moray eels, with sharks cruising by. There is a lot of black sun coral at the site. The Guraidhoo channel has been a marine protected area since 27/09/1995. It is also an Important Shark and Ray Area (ISRA). Courtship behaviour of the whitetip reef shark has been recorded in the channel area, with seven males following a female.
