This house reef rings much of the island. On the guided night snorkel, with fluorescent and blue lights, there is a chance of seeing nurse sharks.
The resort, then called Sun Aqua Iru Veli, is on the island of Aluvifushi, in Dhaalu Atoll, and began welcoming guests in December 2018. It runs a coral planting programme in which guests help restore the house reef.
In Dhaalu and Faafu atolls, reef sharks, turtles, eagle rays and schools of reef fish tend to appear year round, and manta rays from January to April.
