Maldives
This outer reef has less "spur and groove" formation than Madi Gaa, and robust coral forms dominate the substrate, more so than on the inner reefs. It lies on the oceanic side of the atoll and takes the full force of the southwest monsoon. Bathed by oceanic water, it showed little disease, bleaching, predation or other damage to the coral. In 2014, coral cover on the shallow transect was 40%.
