Much of the Jaz Makadina house reef was built rather than natural, and over time the reef has matured. Starting from the pier, the routes follow the reef slope, with hard and soft corals and reef fish, and turtles or rays appear from time to time.
On the house reef there are octopuses so tame that they do not react even with a diver ten centimetres away from them. There was a time when seahorses were easy to find there.
