In 1994, a dive school lifted a large coral-encrusted anchor from the outside reef. No other remains were found nearby, and the anchor was put on display at the resort. About 150 m inside the channel there is a long overhang. Sea fans and whips cover the overhang; inside it there are emperor angelfish, sweetlips and squirrelfish, and outside black snapper and midnight snapper hover. In the region, whale sharks are often sighted in Himendhoo Kandu during the northeast monsoon.
