Egypt
The name Hidden Bay comes from its geography: at very low tide, the bay becomes invisible to anyone looking from the sea, which amazed the Bedouin in the past. Its mouth is almost completely blocked by a long coral reef that divides the tip of Ras Mohammed into two rocky land spits.
The bay is about 1.9 km long and 300 m wide, with no coral reefs inside it. Its northern part stays covered by water even at low tide.
The clear water makes the bay a destination for families to swim, as it is considered safe for children and for those who are not strong swimmers. It is also one of the park's main roosting sites for migratory and resident birds, which stop there to rest and feed.
