Maldives
The name honors Hans Hass, the Austrian diver who pioneered diving in the Maldives. A section of the wall broke and fell away, leaving a recess about 100 m long with overhangs and caves, and the western end has a large cavern. Small purple sea fans cover the ceilings of the overhangs, and the caves hold groupers and soldier fish, the immaculate and the shadow-fin. On the reef, scribbled filefish, trumpet fish and freckled hawk fish are commonly seen. Less common sightings include leaf scorpionfish, arrowhead soapfish and white-banded possum wrasse; there are also anemones, octopus and turtles resting on ledges.
