Egypt
In the site's name, "gota" means coral block, and "wahed" and "etnien" are the numbers one and two. The two blocks lie not far apart from each other, on a huge plateau. The site makes for two dives: the first starts at the small blocks west of Gota Wahed, and the second starts between Gota Wahed and Gota Etnien and heads east. Blue spotted stingrays, moray eels and nudibranchs, among them the pyjama nudibranch, are part of the marine life, and the smaller blocks are worth a close look. Gota Wahed and Gota Etnien are part of the Abu Fendera reef system, which stretches for more than 3 km like a coral necklace.
