Gota Soraya means "Small Gota", in contrast to its neighbour Gota Kebir, the "Big Gota", the largest reef in St. John's. It is the small circular reef of St. John's, beautifully covered in life, with many overhangs and a small cave.
The overhangs and crevices are decorated with colourful soft corals and full of glass fish and sweepers, amid an abundance of corals. It is a good place to look for moray eels and macro life. On the southeast side there are gorgonian fans.
At this site, the best time tends to be from May to October. In St. John's you can dive all year round, but spring and autumn tend to bring the calmest seas and the best chance of reaching the more exposed reefs. In the region, the best diving season tends to run from April to November, with warm, dry weather.
