Gota Elba lies on the Sudanese side of the border, so anyone diving it from the Egyptian Elba cruises ends up crossing the border. On the east face, turtles, trevallies and nudibranchs turn up among varied corals. On the west face there are colorful soft corals, schools of anthias and, at times, a reef shark cruising by.
