Egypt
The name Golden Blocks comes from two golden-coloured hard coral towers, which can sometimes be seen from the surface at low tide. Another explanation links the name to the colourful schools of anthias that surround the coral blocks.
The site is characterised by numerous pinnacles and madrepores, the hard corals. Looking out into the blue, it is common to see passing eagle rays or tuna. The dive can be done as a loop back to the entrance or as a drift dive, and Golden Blocks can also be reached as a drift from Moray Garden, on a long dive.
In Dahab, the best time to dive tends to be from March to June or from September to December, for the most comfortable temperatures both above and below the water.
