Egypt
Gabel Rosas is a narrow U-shaped bay where a sandy bottom slopes down between reefs on both sides, covered in corals, especially huge fire corals. The bay is also called Oriental Bay, a name taken from the Oriental Bay hotel. The hard coral on the plateau is well preserved, and the site is rarely crowded because the trip there is longer than to the sites near town.
On the north side, small caves hide lots of tiny fishes, and sometimes turtles and barracuda appear. The south side has caves and caverns and is populated by schools of snapper and goatfish. On the outer sides of the bay there is a beautiful coral landscape with many anemones. Clownfish, big grouper, squid, scorpionfish, pufferfish, boxfish and stingrays also appear. The site is usually recommended all year round, with no months singled out.
