Maldives
The name comes from Dhivehi: kandu means channel, and there is a thila (pinnacle) touching the edge of the channel. When crossing the channel, stingrays appear, with groups of eagle rays above them. There are lionfish and soldierfish in the overhangs and nurse sharks resting on the channel's crests. Batfish are frequent, and schools of them often come in from the blue. On the other side of the channel there is a rise with a long overhang, where nurse sharks are sometimes found. In Lhaviyani, from December to April the sea is usually calmer and the visibility good.
