Maldives
The name comes from the soft corals in bright, crayon-like colours, and the reef is large, about 600 m long. There are overhangs and small caves where turtles are sometimes seen resting. Sharks, barracuda, trevally and tuna swim around the reef. At Thaa Atoll you can dive all year round, but the best months tend to be those of the north-east monsoon (the dry season), generally December to May.
