Maldives
In Dhivehi, "beyru" means "outside", and Fonadhoo Beyru is the name of the outer reef next to the island of Fonadhoo. On the southern edge of the Laamu atoll, where this outer reef is located, manta sightings seem to be seasonal and to increase during the northeast monsoon, although the data are still limited. In Laamu, outside the two main aggregation areas, most reef manta ray sightings between 2014 and 2020 took place on the outer reefs of the southern edge of the atoll.
