Maldives
Iru Fushi's house reef used to be a fishing spot for local fishermen because of its abundant fish. Today, mantas visit the reef by day and by night and can be seen in different parts of it.
The reef has sponges, brown soft corals and coral blocks with small reef fish. Snappers, emperors, small groupers and jackfish cruise the area. Fusiliers and surgeonfish hover in the blue, and the southern side of the reef has green stony corals with countless open polyps. Glass fishes and a great variety of colorful reef fishes also appear during the dives.
In the region, October to January is usually the best time to see mantas.
