Farewell is made up of two reef blocks, each about 220 m long, on the western side of Fury Shoals. The reef marks the start, to the southeast, of the Fury Shoal group proper, and the wreck of the Adamantia K lies between it and Camilla reef. It is one of the many coral mounds in the area, and groups switch between them depending on how crowded they are with divers.
The main reef is attached to a large garden of hard corals. Large and small formations covered in soft and hard corals can be explored one by one, and some lie just beneath the boat. In the channel between the two blocks there is plenty of small life, including red anemones. The site is also suitable for night diving. In the Hamata region, the best season tends to run from May to October, with less wind and calmer seas.
