Maldives
The channel has what the Maldives are famous for: sharks, jackfish, stingrays, eagle rays, dogtooth tuna, bluefin tuna, bonitos and nice coral. The reef has terraces and overhangs with soft corals and gorgonians, and schools of jackfish and barracuda patrol the channel mouth. Stingrays rest on the sand and eagle rays also appear; in the crevices there is small life, such as morays, shrimps and nudibranchs. It is one of the two channels northeast of Le Méridien Maldives.
In Lhaviyani, the best time to encounter sharks tends to be from December to April, while manta rays are more likely from May to December.
