The Colona IV was a dive safari boat that sank during a storm in 1995. In late April of that year, in heavy weather, she struck the Sha'abrur Umm Gamar reef, north of Hurghada, and went to the bottom. This exposed reef has claimed at least three shipwrecks.
Today the hull lies on its starboard side, nearly complete, beside the impressive wall on the eastern side of the reef, roughly halfway along its length.
On the Shabruhr Umm Gamar reef, there are fairly good chances of seeing grey reef sharks in the afternoon. Giant morays, large groupers and napoleon wrasse also turn up there, and tuna and big eyed trevally often hunt there.
