Maldives
The reef is covered in large coral formations (table, mushroom, soft coral and staghorn), with mantas, reef sharks, turtles and barracudas. The Kandihera–Maa Kandu channel (Manta Point Addu), next to the site, was declared a marine protected area in September 2018. On the outer reefs of Addu, the 2016 El Niño bleached the corals and caused major damage. In Addu people usually dive all year and it is common to see mantas at any time; the warmest water usually falls between January and March.
