Maldives
"Giri", in the name of the site, is the Dhivehi term for an underwater pillar close to the surface. The corals are strong and healthy, with schools of glass fish, fusiliers and bait fish, as well as large groupers, snappers and tuna. Shrimps, nudibranchs and scorpion fish also appear, and occasionally octopuses. In Huvadhoo Atoll, the best time to dive tends to be the North-East Monsoon, from January to May. Huvadhu (Suvadiva) is the atoll with the most islands in the world.
