Maldives
The highlight of the site is the cleaning stations on the top of the reef, where thousands of small cleaner fish go about their work. Manta rays visit these stations and can be seen between December and April.
Moray eels and lobsters hide in small caves in the reef, and whitetip reef sharks rest on the sand. The reef also offers a chance to see sharks, turtles and colourful reef fish.
The site tends to be most active during the northeast monsoon, from December to April, when there are manta rays at the cleaning station. During the southwest monsoon, clear water from the south usually enters the atoll, which tends to favour spotting eagle rays and sharks.
