Maldives
The channel is about 1 km wide, with four separate thilas in the middle, divided by narrow sandy gutters. Large, well-covered reef slabs cross the channel, with many resident schools of fish. On the thilas there are coral blocks with schools of fish and turtles; on the edge of the channel, near the overhangs, eagle rays and big tunas often appear. On the sand between the thilas, stingrays often appear, and in the sandy hollows between the slabs there are rays of many kinds. In summer, during the monsoon, there is a good chance of seeing manta rays in the channel.
