Maldives
In the southeast of Raa Atoll, Beriyan Bodu lies east of a large reef formation and measures about 30 m wide by 50 m long. It is made up of two thilas: the larger one, Bodu, has small caves and a large overhang, from which one descends to the smaller one, Kuda. It is a site that can be dived every day, and each time the conditions and the animals are different.
Around the thila there are plateaus with stunning growth and an abundance of reef life. In the west, small overhangs are partly overgrown with soft corals. The animals include nurse sharks, eagle rays and several stingrays, as well as many scorpionfish, 8 to 10 types of morays, crabs and shrimp.
In Raa, the dry season (December to May) usually has little wind and glassy seas. In the rainy season (June to November), the wind usually brings plankton blooms that attract manta rays to the region's cleaning stations.
