Even with a red flag on the beach, snorkeling is almost always still possible at Baby Reef and on the small seagrass meadow. It is also one of the few spots on the house reef where you can get out of the water partway through the route. There are always clownfish and other reef fish, with luck an octopus or a moray shows up, and a school of brown surgeonfish has been photographed on the reef. The Red Sea anemonefish (Amphiprion bicinctus) lives at Baby Reef in symbiosis with the bubble anemone, and the fish life is good and easy to photograph. Visitors who were there in November 2025, however, reported almost no intact coral, with everything brown and covered in sand.
