The name Aruhfanno roughly means “reef slope” in Dhivehi, which reflects the topography of the site. One of the hand-cut channels in Fuvahmulah's reef runs through here, and the soft corals (gorgonians and sea fans) on the channel walls set the site apart from the hard coral sites on the south and east coasts. It tends to be best from May to October, when the northwest coast is sheltered by the southwest monsoon.
