Maldives
Giri, in the name of the site, is the Dhivehi term for an underwater pillar that comes close to the surface. The site was already listed in a diving leaflet published in March 2016. In the region, in Dhaalu and Faafu, diving is possible year-round, but visibility and manta encounters are usually better from December to April. During the southwest monsoon, from May to October, currents tend to be rich in nutrients, which tends to increase the chances of seeing mantas and pelagic fish in Dhaalu.
