Abu Hamra lies in Hamrawein, an old mining village north of El Quseir, and is a remote and quiet site where most of the time only one group is diving. The dive goes through a 30 m tunnel that ends in a small hole, a crossing of around 4 minutes. There are coral blocks 10 to 15 m high with soft corals, as well as hard corals. Turtles and moray eels very often make an appearance, and there are also wrasses, snappers, crabs, nudibranchs, giant moray eels, eagle rays and scorpion fishes. Dolphins, green sea turtles and bluespotted stingrays are also among the common sightings.
