The Abo Nawas house reef has large fields of hard and soft coral, with coral-covered pillars here and there. Squid, snappers, turtles and scorpion fish are among the reef's permanent residents. Groupers, blue tangs and clownfish are also recorded at the site. In 2006, a long pier helped protect the reef.
